To a dog owner, their pet is a family member. A significant concern of a dog owner is what to do with their pet while traveling. Studies show that leaving it behind can be worrisome for both pet and owner and can negatively affect the dog’s behavior. Pup Pass solves this by providing a resource to easily find pet-friendly businesses and lodging while on vacation. The app allows users to search for a business and find out if they are allowed to bring their furry friend. Using geolocation, the app also suggests pet-friendly businesses nearby. Built using Facebook’s innovative React Native library, the app supports deployment on both Android and iOS, but was developed in just one programming language, JavaScript, when traditionally two programming languages, Java for Android and Swift for iOS, are needed. React Native provides a consistent user experience across both platforms and cuts app development time in half. Testing of the application was completed using a physical device using the Expo software development kit.
